Urbino - the ideal city of the Renaissance. Raphael's birthplace.
The city of Urbino, listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage site, has retained its unique image as an ideal Renaissance city-state.
The small space of this "palace-shaped city" housed an incredible number of works of art: today, most of them adorn the collections of the Louvre in Paris, the Uffizi in Florence, and the Brera Gallery in Milan. The finest architects, astrologers, artists, and philosophers labored hand in hand in this ideal "kingdom." Piero della Francesco's 3D paintings still captivate with their timeless innovation. It's no surprise that "the most perfect phenomenon in world art," Raphael Santi, was born here. The son of the famous and talented artist Giovanni Santi, the refined Raphael was patronized by the Dukes of Urbino from a young age. Once you visit Urbino, you begin to understand where this divine artist gets his calm, soft colors, and lines.

3-hour sightseeing tour runs along the following route:
Mercatale Square and the main tower facade of the palace, visit to the Ducal Palace with a tour of the main halls and the National Art Gallery of Marche (the famous Studiolo of Duke Federico da Montefeltro, the painting The Flagellation of Christ by Piero della Francesca, Raphael's The Mute, Luciano Laurana's The Ideal City, etc.), the Cathedral of St. Dominic, the Cathedral, Piazza della Repubblica, the Church of San Francesco, visiting the Raphael House Museum, Roman square with the monument to Raphael.
